Melissa & Mike - Engagement

Whew! Nate and I are back from SC, and trying to cram in a weeks' worth of work into... well... tomorrow! We had such a great time, and as dorky as it sounds, I'm so excited to start working on photos from this weekend's wedding! :)

Before I go to bed, here are some photos from Melissa & Mike's engagement, a shoot we did a couple weeks ago. Melissa was so bubbly to be around, and you can't help but notice Mike is head over heels for her! They met when Mike was on a trip with one of their mutual friends. The friend called Melissa to talk, and somehow, Mike ended up getting the phone, and the two talked for over an hour. That was followed by another long phone call, and then another... And before you knew it, Mike and Melissa were engaged!
This one might be my favorite:

Melissa and Mike, thanks for hanging out with us, and best of luck with your wedding plans!!

Kristen & Pippin - Engagement

This is just a really quick post.. Nathan and I leave for South Carolina tomorrow! In the next two weeks, we have 4 weddings in 4 states! Please be patient with us as we do our best to keep up with phone calls and emails!

I can't say enough good things about Kristen and Pippin... They live in Atlanta and came down to Clearwater to get married. :) We met them a couple days before their big day to do an engagement shoot!

Then they trashed the engagement dress... :)

My favorite!!
More from their wedding & honeymoon coming up next! :)

Kari - Bridal

Kari and Wes' engagement shoot was the reason for our trip to New Orleans, but we were also thrilled when Kari asked us to do a bridal shoot with her. Can you believe that in the 2 years we've been doing weddings, this was only the second bridal shoot we've ever done? The only other one was for our very first bride, Bethany.

Anyway, Kari and her mom drove us to a really cool park to play around with, and I'm so happy with how the pictures turned out!! I really hope more brides start thinking of doing this.. We never would have gotten these shots in such little time on a wedding day!

Isn't she lovely?

Since it wasn't her wedding day yet, we were extra careful to keep the dress clean... Mom put a towel down before she relaxed on the grass. ;)

Kari, thank you so much for the honor! I'm sure your wedding was fabulous, and we hope to meet again! :)

New Orleans 2008

Here's a quick review of our trip to Nola last month! :)

Only in the Disney area would you see things like this written where you fill up!

All good photographers take pictures like this when starting on a road trip...
We were walking to lunch one day when we go down this random alley and see tons of camera equipment.. Movie set lights, stands, etc. We came back from lunch to get more shots of it , but everything was gone. Apparently they were filming a movie there just hours before, and we missed it!

Loooooooove this shot!
And this one..
I've become obsessed with locks, ok? ;)

My favorite from the trip..See you next year, New Orleans! ;)

Six Things Post

I haaaaate doing these things, and I'm only doing it because the great Amanda Keeys tagged me, and well, I'll do anything for her. ;)

So here we go..

Firstly, the rules:
Link the person who tagged you
Mention the rules on your blog
Tell about 6 unspectacular quirks of yours
Tag 6 fellow bloggers
Leave a comment on each of the tagged bloggers blogs letting them know they have been tagged.

Only 6? Here are the biggies...

1. I LOATHE the telephone. My friends will tell you how horrible I am. You know how sometimes someone calls you, and then you wait a few days too long to really think about calling back you just feel akward about it and put it off that little bit longer... And then by the time you DO call back, the first 5 minutes is your friend giving you a massive guilt trip for not calling back? Well, that happens to me way too often. I feel like email was invented for me, because otherwise, I'd have no friends left. :( Thank God Nathan is the Root Photography communications liason!

2. I'm terrified of fish. Well... Fish, dolphins, whales, jellyfish, starfish... If it lives under the sea, I want NOTHING to do with it. I have night terrors of killer whales and aquariums. The whales don't attack or eat me in my night terrors, they just stay next to me in the water and it's enough to make me wake up in tears! I'm so weird, I know. The bravest thing I did last year was take a trip to Sea World, and I really look forward to going back. Ironically enough, my favorite movie is The Little Mermaid. So I guess only non-singing fish scare me.

3. I have an unhealthy obsession with office supplies. Even when I was in high school, I think I looked forward to school supply shopping day more than my birthday. Fresh folders, binders, markers... A clean pack of college rule notebook paper. *sigh.* Don't tell anyone, but Office Depot is second only to Tiffany's in my mind. Buy me pink office supplies, and I'm yours for life! I'm currently wishing for a desk makeover from my favorite office supplier- See Jane Work. I have my eye on these sticky notes, notebooks, and tape dispensers. ;)

4. I listen to Christmas music year round. Easily every other night when Nathan and I are up late working on your beautiful images, we're listening to Christmas with the Rat Pack or A Charlie Brown Christmas. Nothing gets me more relaxed and happy than that. I have a mild obsession with the holiday, and I love that my husband doesn't mind. ;) I do my best to not watch my favorite Christmas movies until late summer, but sometimes a girl just needs a little Santa Clause in her life. Oh, and Elf doesn't count. That's year round goodness, no matter who you are. :)

5. Sometimes when I'm sitting alone or driving in the car, I won't even notice that I'm writing my thoughts out in cursive print with my right hand. I think because I was a writer in high school and would think so much when I'm out, it just became second nature and I don't even notice it anymore.

6. This is the big one. I hate textures. Carpet, terry cloth, jeans, panty hose, even cotton... I don't like it. It makes my mouth water and my body tense up and cringe whenever someone rubs their palms on a texture. Isn't that CRAZY? My brother and sister are the exact same way, which means I'm not the one at fault for this one, it has to be in the genes!

Ok. So now it's my turn to tag... Hmm... I'm gonna tag Carly, Lea, Leigh, Rebecka, Mindi, and Lauren. :) Because a post isn't a post without some photos, here are some we took at the Audubon Zoo in New Orleans last month!

I mean, I don't want to brag or anything, but I make a MUCH more convincing seal. ;)
Bear feet! <3
My 2nd favorite animal of all time... Fellow Kilimanjaro Safari Drivers say it with me... "No Miss Jobson, they are Tommies. TOMMIES!" I used to see these guys during my old day job, and they are just the second cutest things ever.
However, I looooooove white rhinos. They are my 'official' favorite animal, if anyone ever asks.
This is why I married him. :)
