Lorie & Family : Portrait

The last of our Memphis shoots. :) We make it a policy to only do family shoots for past clients or our family... This is my 2nd family!

You guys might recognize our best friends Lorie and Jon (they're getting married in Africa in 2010!). It's so weird visiting Germantown and not having my old home to go to, since my parents left Tennessee when I did. Staying with Lorie's parents is the next best thing. I love these guys. :)

Ashley & Justin : Engagement

I was so shy in high school. Like, painfully shy. The best friends I had were the same ones I had since elementary school, and rarely did I step outside of my comfort zone to make new friends. Ashley is the girl I always wanted as a best friend. She was in theatre with one of my best friends and they became close, but we never really got the chance to hang out. (Theatre in my school was very much a full-time job.) Needless to say, I was so excited when Ashley and I made plans over Facebook to shoot her engagement during our trip to Memphis! When Nathan and I met them at the Peabody, Ashley greeted me with the biggest, happiest welcome and treated us like celebrities for the whole shoot! (One of my favorite moments was her telling us how whenever she shows people our websites, she gets so excited to say, "I KNOW THEM!" hehehehe.)

It's such an honor that she and Justin love our work so much, seeing as not only are both of their dads photographers (Ashley met Justin when she was a student in his dad's photography class in college..), but they're both photographers themselves! My heart broke a little when I found out we were booked on their wedding date, but I'm so happy we got to play downtown Memphis. I can't believe I lived 30 minutes away for 15 years of my life, and I'm only now learning the city. :)

Memphis had the coolest spots!

I can't even imagine how gorgeous she'll look in a wedding gown!

The next part of the session is where Nathan and I are hoping to take our style. We're so lucky that more and more of our clients are willing to do whatever it takes to get 'the shot.' Ashley and Justin were no exception, and we were delighted when we found an abandoned parking garage, complete with homeless men and this little beauty:
They totally worked it out. ;)

Then we headed to Beale Street for a lil' bit.
LOVE it.

:)
FAVORITE! :)

The end. :)

Ashley & Justin- Get your cute butts down here for a visit!!! Love you guys!

Lauren & Chad : Wedding

I've known Lauren since the 6th grade when I was seated behind her in Mrs. Thompson's class. (Her last name started with an L, mine a P.) We also happened to live in the same neighborhood. The neighborhood I grew up in was a lot like the small town on the Gilmore Girls.. We had neighborhood Easter Egg hunts, one giant 4th of July cookout at the park, Christmas decorating contests (Which, mom and I won almost every year.. Damn you, Mr. Smith!). Then there was the coveted Halloween parade.

Now, this parade lasted all the way from the tip of Savannah Way to our park right by my house, and all the kids would dress up and march down the streets, comparing costumes and smiling for our parents' cameras on the sidelines. It was quite the event, and the whole thing was led by a real firetruck. A real one. (There is a point to this, really.) Well, I was most jealous of Lauren and her friends because they were allowed to ride ON the firetruck, not just march behind it. Whenever I think of Lauren, I think of that parade, and this is why I had such a hard time realizing that we're growing up!

Here are my favorites from Lauren and Chad's wedding. I should start by saying I loved the mood of the room she was getting ready in, because she and her bridesmaids were watching her favorite episode of the Gilmore Girls! I think it really helped calm her nerves, so it's something for my future brides to think about!
This was their freaking adorable flower girl opening a gift from Lauren- A My Little Pony AND a Disney Princess coloring and sticker book. She was just a little happy. ;)

His flawless bride:

I love this shot Nathan got of Chad as Lauren and her dad walked down the aisle.

Shananagins during the ceremony.. :)
Married!!! I posted this because couples never look at me when I'm up in the balcony, and I felt beyond special.

First dance to my Michael Bublé. :)
You don't even know it, but you totally know who this little guy is... Remember April and Josh, and their awesome maternity shoot? He was the one in April's belly! :) SO squinchable!
It was Hux's first wedding, and he even got a dance with the bride!

End-of-the-night-love.

Lauren and Chad, congratulations!!! We can't wait to see you again when you have little Lauren and Chads. :)

Alicia & Nick : Wedding

Last month, Nathan and I were all over the country shooting weddings! You already saw Beth & Tony's wedding in South Carolina. That next week we flew to Salem, Oregon for my brother's wedding (which I'll be blogging about next week!), and the following DAY we were flying to Memphis, Tennessee for Alicia & Nick's wedding!

Alicia and I have known each other since middle school. She was always one of the sweetest girls I've ever known... One of those people who doesn't have a mean bone in her body! We reconnected last year through Facebook and she fell in love with the albums I posted. I knew her wedding would be incredible, and I'm so happy Nathan and I could be a part of it!

I hung out with the girls for a bit while Nathan went to check on Nick..
On the way to their wedding site, we stopped off with the guys to get some of our best groomsmen shots yet!

Alicia made a beautiful bride.
I'm so jealous of her lashes!
A friend of Nick's sang "Broken Road" and "She's Everything" during the ceremony, which was a sweet touch!
Alicia and Nick were married at Mud Island River Park in downtown Memphis. I was so excited that they were my first Memphis wedding, because I have so many childhood memories of Mud Island. They basically have a small-scale exact replica of the Mississippi River that runs down 5 city blocks of downtown. Mom used to take us there when we were little, and we'd race tiny plastic boats down the water. :) I'm really excited to take Nathan there to play when we visit again!

I love a good black and white portrait!

My favorite from the day-

The reception had a lovely view of the Mississippi Bridge.
First dance. :)
Poor Alicia!! Nick, this was SO not cool!
Bouquet toss!
Nick and his groomsmen doing their thing to the YMCA.
They shared a sweet last dance alone while the guests headed outside for their exit. I LOVE when couples do this!

Congratulations, Mr. & Mrs. York!!
